Kaas Flowering Plateau

         Kaas is the famous for the wild flora that beautifies the whole plateau after the monsoon retreats in this area. The whole plateau gets different floral carpets separated in the span of 7-10 days. Due to heavy rain this year (2016), plateau is not completely cover with flowers.  The endemic flowers from the place also bring life to the different insects which act as important pollinators for these flowers to continue life year after year.

The Kaas Plateau, also known as the Kaas Pathar or Kas Sadas, is a plateau situated 25 kilometres west from Satara city in Maharashtra, India. There are various types of seasonal wild flowers bloom and numerous species of butterflies annually in the months of August and September.

Impatiens lawii - It is an annual herb with succulent stem then pink coloured solitary flower

Cyanotis Cristata - A magnifying glass is required to see all six stamens with filaments densely bearded with long blue hairs.

Paracaryopsis coelestina / Common Hill Borage (Marathi : Nisurdi)

Adenoon is a genus of flowering plants in the daisy family described in 1850. There is only one known species, Adenoon indicum, native to the Western Ghats of India.
Adenoon indicum – Or the Blue Sonki is an erect branched plant with blue-purple flower-heads occur in corymbose panicles. There is a complex arrangement of petals in the flower.

Smithia / Mickey Mouse Flower – This flower has bright yellow petals with two oval red eyes and below that are two small petals that look like a mustache. Hence they are also called mickey mouse flowers.
